Dining @ Weekends

A weekend full of activities.. a rarity for the both of us since we usually like to reserve at least 1 day to rest at home (usually sundays).

Sat - went down to Ubi to rectify his car audio speaker (wires came loose and he got pretty disturbed by the sound quality..guys!). Down to Suntec thereafter..as expected, packed like nobody's business..not a place I'll go if not for dg..and so I left him to his IT show shopping which I sat at Gelare with his family *grinz*
Drove down to Vivo for dinner and movies. Dinner first - @ The Mussel Guys. Our all-time favourite!!! Really..the best (cheap and good) place for mussels..buy 350g free 200g with any Master cards..this is also the place where I embarked on my long-time happy relationship w mussels..haha..Recommended: Spicy mussels, Creamy mussels and Half-baked mussels..
Dinner was very very good for us..

As for movies..watched "Haunted Changi" - Verdict: DAMN LOUSY SHOW!!!!! *faintz* horrible storyline/ending, atrocious handling of camera - made me giddy and nauseous throughout the movie..ULTIMATE CRAP PIECE OF WORK! *super utterly disappinted* waste time waste money..perhaps the only good thing out of this movie was that I actually get to see how the old changi hospital looks like, inside and out. (I was only 14years old when it officially closed)

Recommended no 1 : Spicy Mussels

Recommended no 2 : Creamy Mussels

Fish and Chips..the serving was really huge~ and mind you, the fishes were not just all about flour! Really made up of fresh thick fish fillet! Luckily we sticked to only 1 main dish.

chanced upon this "shop" while shopping..the cakes look really really tempting~ and so we decided to try some of it..came back did some research and realised that this Fruit Paradise is actually so well-received and famous!

their cakes are made up of fresh cream with lots and lots of fruits, and tarts as base..*yumz* and I read that they r low in carbs! p/s: I dun know if it's really low-fat, but well..the diet starts tomorrow!

Left to Right: Strawberry w Mango, Strawberry Chocolate, Mango, Banana Orange Tiramisu. *THUMBS UP!!!!* very very nice!!! the cake is soft and fluffy, taste is not compromised thou is full of creams..the fruits reduced the sinful feeling.. (I am still eating fruits afterall, right?!?! haha)
Though a tad expensive, I would say well-worth it! Generally $7-9 per piece.
SUN - Celebrated Angie's birthday today. Visited dg's bro in ktph before that..sprained his back and muscle ached since then, to be hospitalised till tue. Met soanne in orchard, did my waxing, shopped for angie's pressie and cake, and met her for dinner @ 6.30pm, while dg had dinner w his colleagues at Trader's Hotel.. (apparently he's all praises for the buffet there..hmm shall try that next time round)
Had dinner at Greenwood Avenue - L' Estaminet / Pepperoni Pizzeria.
Add: 6 Greenwood Avenue - go try even if you dun drive and the location is pretty inaccessible..the trip will be rewarded. Rusty ambience, coupled w good food at reasonable prices and unpretentious warm service from their staff.

was given a seat at their "outdoor"..decorated like some cafe along the streets of some European cities, very nice ambience.

theme of bd dinner : head dress. *lol* I look totally like a kid in the flower headband, w my jumper pants!!!!!

the head dress we got for the birthday gal...very elegant very nice, suits her very well.

Mushroom soup..very thick soup of mushrooms, in which you can really taste the mushrooms. Taste-wise is good but bad thing is too little bits of mushrooms and the croutons came soggy.

Vongole - one of their signature pasta. Very strong taste of wine and they r not stingy on the serving size~ Alittle wasted that the pasta came abit undercooked. Apart from that, can try~

Another signature side dish : Portobello Mushroom. Deep-fried portobello w chicken bits. This is very nice without being too oily (even when cold). The mushroom did not lose its crunchyness even when soaked in sauce for some time. Good!

Their pizza is the one most worth mentioning! *yumz* We chose the large pizza (8 slices) and we could actually choose 2 kinds of toppings. So we tried their 2 signature ones, suprema and pancetta. Thumbs up for both, thou I prefer the latter (cox no onions! lol)

We ended the dinner w a mini birthday cake for the birthday gal~ Choc cake surrounded by macaroons, from Canele, my creation *smilez*

bought her the new pacer from Nike! hope she likes it..

had ice-cream @ Udders, along Lor Kilat. Not really much stomach space left after the dinner, but we went ahead still w desserts.
