煮炒来咯
Dg wanted try out the recommended stall after watching Channel 8's " 煮炒来咯" (showing every thurs)...so last fri we went n tried it out...biz was damn good after the programme..went specially for their 水晶鸡 but it was sold out by the time we ordered (p/s: had to wait for jessie and hw to come b4 ordering..so there was abit of delay)
The best thing? We din try all the recommended dishes in the programme..our logic? if their food is good, everything on the menu shld be good..so we ordered 鱼头炉 w 红斑, 四季豆, 虾酱鸡...these r very common dishes tt we can find everywhere but we just wanted to try these out..
鱼头炉 w 红斑 - $28
Very worth the price and definitely worth a try, esp in rainy weathers. The fish came fresh n thickly-sliced which tastes much better than those thinly-sliced cox u can taste the freshness of it and it doesnt fall to pieces when u try to pick them out of the hotpot..portion was nt stingy, satisfying quantity for 4.
The thing I like most is it comes with lots of veg..lotsa n lotsa of it...And the one thing I dun like is tt the yam was nt deep-fried beforehand, so it's just boiled yam which doesnt bring out the fragrance at all..tastes just like a lump of mushy starch..
四季豆 - $10
This is only so-so. The beans were fried for too long, making it "old" and dry...too soft...totally lost the crunchiness of it..(p/s: I happen to love 干扁四季豆 which I most frequently ordered, so I'm more 嘴挑)...the fried 虾米 were too salty also so must go with rice..btw we ordered this cox their signature veg dish 三蛋芫菜 was sold out too, so I wana go back to try it out again.. *hint hint DG* lol
虾酱鸡 - $12
Definitely a generous serving..medium size comes with 12 pieces = $1 per piece...cheap right? Taste-wise, nothing special. Abit oily but guess all deep-fried food r like tt..*shrugs* If you like strong 虾酱 taste, then u'll probably like this..for me, no comments.
Total bill came to $53.20 (including 4 glasses of warm home-cooked delicious barley) for 4 pax which I find very reasonable. Btw, 45min wait = a free plate of pork belly for the steamboat.
Verdict = I want to go back again (before reaching a conclusion) to try their 水晶鸡, 三蛋芫菜 & 酸菜鱼..kakis?? anyone??
