Finally, photos are out~ hooray..

my wedding gown - covered at the front, exposed at the back hahah...is a different gown from the ones i wore for photoshoot..cox my coordinator forgot reserve the original one under my name so i had to change as is taken by another bride who's marrying on the same day..

started makeup only ard 7+am..as our auspicious timing is from 9-1pm so dg can only step into house at 9am

and while im doing my makeup..dg is preparing to come fetch me liao *smilez*

my "sisters" preparing the stuff for sabotage liao..

eeuuuck...they stuffing the small red chilli seeds into the ang ku kueh..

dont dare eat after taking the gown (2 days in between)..ended up the gown was too loose on the actual day *cryz* so it was all crumpled at the stomach area...

after putting on gown, realised too loose so came out for breakfast (in a hope to put some "meat" to tighten the gown hahah)..ended up posing for the camera..w the board tt angie did for me for the reception table..p/s: the camera did not manage to capture the "blink blink" of the ring..angie pasted real "crystals" to form the ring...

here comes the groom~ 7 cars in total..all sounding horns as they come in..

This yr is a special year for us...1st time we are celebrating xmas as husband and wife...1st time we are celebrating xmas in our new house..*smilez* xmas always warms my heart..and this yr is no exception, esp when im surrounded by loved ones..so i decided to liven up the atmosphere at home by buying this xmas tree, decorating it and putting pressies below...soooo nice~

Yes, had good food like almost every weekend..was at expo and his family suggested buffet dinner at a hotel nearby..so started surfing safari and found this to be of good reviews..decided to give it a try..

tempura..lady's finger, brinjal, prawns, shishamo, sweet potato, soft shell crabs..

roasted lamb shank

sashimi...salmon, tuna, octopus..and..

cold crab meat!!! straight from the "legs"..yums yums..this is damn shiok..

laksa and mee siam..only tried the laksa..it is good! not too spicy but yet thick..coconut milk not too strong...

cold seafood corner...prawns, crabs, mussels, scallops.. refilled at speedy rate..never does it go empty too long..

my MIL's fav..durian paste...a mixture of bitter and sweet durians...just nice..she had 3 big bowls of it!! Sinfully good~

desserts corner...the usual of fruits and cakes..

the ice-kachang corner! yes they even have this machine!

kueh pie-tee corner...this is my fav corner!! handmade a few, happily devoured by his family..the ingredients were fresh and abundant, the "cup" is crispy..wooh~ what more can i say..

crayfish...this is so-so..meat abit overcooked..sauce does not go well..

prawn paste chicken..this is quite good...the prawn paste smell is not too strong, chicken tender and crispy..

they have all these tidbits kept in bottles for guests to help themselves..they r all tidbits and biscuits tt we used to eat as a child..feels transported back to the 80's early 90's..hahaha..

preserved pickles...tried the kimchi...so-so niaz..

kachang puteh...would be great if they had this cone paper tt we could put them in..tt will really bring us back to the old days when pple buy this for movies and not the poporn, nachos tt we enjoy now.. p/s: fyi im not tt old but i do rem these days when i was a kid..and im still young!

ice-cream cone w choc/strawberry/mint/vanilla ice-cream..dg's nephew loved it so much tt this was his 3rd/4th one..

Verdict: Definitely Try-able...a worthy buffet dinner of $48++ if not for the location..service was very prompt and good..

Boss bought tickets for us to Abba concert @ Marina Bay Sands..coupled w dinner @ the DB bistro..

Menu: 3 courses for $68++ per pax

1st course: Appetizer..choice of duck, salad or soup..this duck is supposed to be their specialty..but to us, maybe we are not connoiseurs, but really..this dish did not go down well w us..had to go with the bread provided as is on the salty side..

Caesars Salad..decided to play safe and ordered this..afterall it's difficult to go wrong w vegetables..

2nd course: main course: choice of stuffed chicken thigh, salmon or ricotti.. chose stuffed chicken thigh..ate 2 and found it quite "ge-lat" and too salty so gave the 3rd piece away..but the mashed potato was really good..the mushrooms were far too salty as well.. overdose of salt..

3rd course: desserts: choice of creme brulee with expresso ice-cream, fruit cake w sherbets or assorted ice-cream. As creme brulee is my fav and came highly recommended, naturally I made it my choice. The creme brulee was impressive...not too sweet and the burnt sugar was crispy, broke when i lightly touched it w my spoon..and the expresso ice-cream! Boy, that was fantastic..for a coffee fan like me.. came also w coffee jelly..yummy yummy~

this fruit cake w sherbets is really good as well..expected the fruit cake to be something like the ones we have for xmas but no! it's more like carrot cake w a layer of cheese on top...thumbs up!!

As an ending note, we were served coffee/tea..sugar came in cubes w evaporated milk...nice coffee.. Overall, we loved the desserts but found the food salty..do not think will come again..

Nostalgia Hotel - Buffet Breakfast

Saw Channel 8's tv programme - Forever Buffet 2 and decided to try this hotel's buffet bf tt was recommended.

Verdict: Complete waste of money, time, effort and stomach space.

First of all, there is no parking for cars cox it's a small boutique hotel at the junction near Tiong Bahru Mkt (Boy, we shld eaten there instead - cheaper n better)

Food:

Variety super limited...$19.90 ++ per pax is way too expensive for such limited choices. Fyi we managed to try all the choices available, cox my hubby decided not to waste the money.

Taste... not up to standard..we suspect that the food were cooked ahead and just kept warm..when it was served, the food were nt even warm. Nothing tastes good except for the sausages which is of passable standard. Eggs Benedict - after trying tt from Prive, small wonder for the difference in price. 3.5 stars (or is it 4 stars?) given in the show...for us? 1 star..

Service:

Service standard in the show was given 3.5 stars out of 5...goodness...when we went, they were severly shorthanded in our opinion. No matter how we try to catch their attention, we could never get it until they walked past us and we stopped them. We had to remind them a few times for our iced water, for them to clear our plates and for them to bring us pepper and salt...For me to rate their service standard..not too sorry to say only 1 star...

All in all..pls dun waste time and money trying this buffet out..

their deluxe breakfast.. which doesnt appear too deluxe to me...1 miserable piece of overcooked bacon, 2 slices of bread, hash brown which came cold, 2 sausages, eggs that were abit tasteless and some veg..

eggs w mushrooms.. this was highly recommended by the critics in the show..not too bad..we like tt it was filled full w mushrooms and abit a cheese..not too cooked, neither was it undercooked..

eggs benedict...bacon came too dry and did not blend well with the too-dry-bread and the egg..

waffles w fruits..supposed to be something "new" as theirs come w raisins on the underside..but when we flipped over..the raisins? a miserable countable of 3-4 raisins..

fruits w natural yoghurt...fruits were sweet, coupled w the sourish yoghurt, still not too bad..

Yay~ did my lasik after many many rounds of thinking..pros and cons, pros and cons...finally plucked up courage and went for it...now my eyesight is perfect again!! hooray!!!

Only worry now is that will kena infection..so must take real good care of them...no straining, no water and must keep them constantly wet w eyedrops...antibiotics 4 times a day..but...all's worth it when u wake up in the morning and everything becomes crystal clear wo specs or lens...

1st trip after freshening up in hotel (Metropark, Mongkok - location damn good, just 1 street away from hua yuen st) - The Peak

First dinner @ Yuen Kee, wellington street..famous for their roasted goose and their soft-centred century eggs

this meal alone costs us SGD$150!!!

2nd day - land tour (inclusive in package) to Lantau Island + a few tourist spots..

This is actually supposed to be the background for the instant printouts (the type where guests can use the props provided, pose for photos and get them printed out instantly at the printer station, in credit card size so that they can be slotted in wallets as souvenirs - we got this service included in our actual day photography package. Did spend quite some money on this but guests, esp relatives, enjoyed it so much that we felt was money worth-spent)

Held our chinese customary wedding lunch yday @ Goodwood Park Hotel, Windsor Ballroom. Thou many hiccups along the way, nevertheless the day ended fantastically for us.

Heartiest thanks to all who made it a wonderful day for us; esp to my sisters (ANGIE - for all the artwork such as our guestbook, our name stands, our angbao box *muackz muackz* love ur artwork & yes we kept them *grinz*, SOANNE - for being my PA the whole morning, from bringing all my stuff to hotel to checking in and making sure my tea ceremony went smoothly *muackz muackz*, JESSIE/EVON/YUNGKET - for being my sisters, "tricking" my hubby *lol* and being at my "command" the whole morning *muackz muackz*)

Thanks also to my brother & SIL for lending me his house for desmond to fetch me (those who know me well know the reason), my grandma for waking up so freaking early to prepare the sweet soup, my mum for getting ready all the preparations n the breakfast, my dad for marrying me off to desmond, & all my relatives who have been soooo generous in their angbaos.. *muackz muackz*

Call me Mrs Goh.. *grinz* Yes!! Signed our marriage cert today...officially Mr & Mrs Goh..

Was raining super heavily in the morning...had to make our way out early to avoid being late..ceremony started at 11.30am..signing of cert, saying of vows, blessing ritual by shifu(s), and finally vegetarian buffet lunch..

Yay~ booked our Hong Kong trip at Natas yday...yah we could have just booked the flight n hotel ourselves since tt was what i did last yr..but this time round cox bringing his mum n niece so we had to book land tours as well, to make travelling easier..anyway we managed to gt a good deal so we just booked on the spot.

Went his friend's bbq @ Caribbean at Keppel Bay...was a good breezy weather for bbq..plus cox the cdo is by the sea so was esp windy.

Celebrated dg's buddy's gf's birthday @ Dragonfly following the bbq. Changed at the cdo before gg...

Mr Goh worked on saturday and so 孤单me stayed home to try out the new-gotten recipe for quiche-tartlets. p/s: so happened his mum n sis family came over stayed the night (esp to accompany me) & so i got pple help me eat *lol* :)

while waiting eagerly for it to be "cooked" - most of it are already cooked - stir fry the spinach, the salmon is bought smoked, only the egg and the cream needs to be cooked...

Dg's cousin specially went m'sia and bought this special "mooncake" for us...every year he'll make the trip for us esp just to buy this...cheap + good..3 boxes of 双簧 + 1 box of 单黄 = $38 only. *smilez*

Buttery, not too oily, the egg yolks big n nice, taking up nearly the whole "mooncake"...sinful yet irresistible..

My dear cyk complained I've not been updating my blog and therefore here I am...

Hmmm let me see..wedding day coming up..october bride...solemnisation on tues @ 海印 followed with a vegetarian buffet lunch and some blessing ceremony by the 师父s, banquet on saturday @ goodwood park...

As for now...pretty lax cox lunar 7th month so not allowed to do anything tt has anything n everything to do with the wedding...老人家迷信..anyway they meant well also so we just guai guai listen loh...no harm anyway..just that once august ends, we are gg to be damn busy!!! need to write invitation cards, send them out, 过大礼, give the cakes out to relatives, confirm attendance, arrange seatings and itinery, meet up with the sisters, etc etc....GOD! 1001 things to be done...

Best thing comes after the wedding...I'm gg for Lasik!!!! yay...finally plucked up my courage to do it...tired of wearing specs and lenses..eyes getting very sensitive to lenses also...*smilez*

And the next best thing...Honeymoon!!!! Don't ask me to where...yet to be decided haha...we just want to get the wedding over and done with first...

The Ultimate Crab & Durian Buffet @ The Promontory

In case, this is not famous enough, it's located at the boardwalk between Vivo and Sentosa..was a nice walk in the evening when the wind breezes past..nice for couples to take a cooling walk in the evening, hand in hand..

Went with my colleagues yesterday..was a lucky reservation as they are fully booked for the entire promotion period...was "amazed" at the crowd yesterday despite a following working day..

honestly speaking, thou the view from the "restaurant" is fabulous, the whole tentage thingy makes it feel like er-hm a "white affair"..

my fav~ fresh, succulent prawns...

their appetizers r good~ in fact, maybe the only food i enjoyed...crab salad (u can taste real crabmeat), baby octopus, top shell..

Mr Giant~ 1.5L of beer..seriously tt's the "name" on their menu..

Birthday Weekend

Went chiong w my bankers on Fri evening...was an invitation from Gladys...the last time i went Mono, was checked ic which i forgot to bring..the bouncer refused to give me a "chop" and asked me to stay at Mono level..so this time round, i made sure i brought my whole wallet!!
very long nv chiong so was kinda tired the whole weekend thereafter...

My dearies celebrated my birthday on Saturday evening..dinner @ a Kim Family Korean Restaurant, along lor kilat. Alrdy reserved table but we still had to wait..their crowd is damn "horrible"!!! so many pple waiting for seats!!! Let's see if their food really tt nice..

1st..they have a lot of side dishes!!! I'm impressed...most of the other korean restaurants tt i went to usually serves only 4-5 side..this has got 12!!! & most important;y, their kimchi is quite good..thou nt the best..

stone bowl rice..i must say thou im nt a carbo person, this dish has made its mark and made me ate more than my usual 2 mouths of rice...

bbq pork...pork ribs and pork belly...normal...

spring onion pancake...crispy on the side, soft in the centre...good! only bad thing..i dun eat spring onions so i had a hard time picking them out..ahaha

sausage and ham casserole...this is good...it took a long time to come and when it finally came, we were alrdy almost full..but we still managed to finish this up..

highlight of the evening..my birthday cake, of course..haha~ choc amer from bakerzin..yums yums~

the restaurant also serves free coffee...was surprised at the fragrance of this intant coffee, thou no creamer but still good enuff for me to gulp everything down..

Did volunteering work at Bo Tien Aged Home last weekend. Found it a more meaningful way to spend weekend then going shopping, playing mj, etc..

saw a koi pond at the reception lobby...the koi(s) all so fat n lazily swimming around~

so dg bought the fish food and started feeding them...

all of them started leaping n grabbing for the fish food~

painted their entertainment room and also attended the flower arrangement class with them..such little things make them so happy~ we have so many things yet we r constantly unhappy & fighting/asking/hoping for more...

this old uncle tt i helped out with was so happy with the arrangement tt he stood up n wanted me to help him take photos..haha~

saw this new shop at taka square and their "macaroons" look pretty interesting..gave it a try despite the steep pricing... REGRET! tastes soft and much too sweet!! too sucky for the pricing...looks r deceiving~

my fav cod fish soup from this jap restaurant in Far East~ Wasabi Tei..hidden at a corner at lvl 5..have to queue de ok...n u really have to wait some time to queue and for the food to be cooked..but it's all worth the wait...tt explains for the long long q tt's always there whenever I patronize there...

was driving along CTE in the evening n saw this magnificent sundown..it looks so captivating tt i had to take a few shots of it..

Busying myself lately...with work (new job scopes tt include signing of valuation reports), with personal life (engrossed in xbox 360 - bought it nearly a mth ago and has been actively increasing our games and enjoying playing it in our entertainment room, with the new Phillips 40" LED..enjoying life hah), with our marriage stuff (all the trinklets tt include making decisions to shift forward our solemnization - we r saying our vows at the buddhist society tt my parents frequent w sponsor of a vegetarian buffet lunch from my mum..we are gg for food tasting nxt Mon and taking our invitation cards so tt we can have them printed...gg to choose the design layout of our wedding shoot album...oh manz...1001 things to do..24 hrs definitely not enough...tt's y told DG we must settle all the small small things we can settle now first..dun wana drag then everything come together..will quarrel, will faintz, will headache de...)

Yay..definitely looking fwd to a better, more exciting, half of 2011....

Attended Weesin's wedding lunch yday @ The Sheraton...food was better than expected..(attended twice and both times disappointed me)..maybe cox the company was good? *lol* had much fun playing with anna's princess kaydence...soooooo absolutely CUTE~~ (p/s: even dg praised her for her intelligence..and dg's super biased towards his niece de hor..u rarely hear him praising another baby cute/intelligent...anna: be proud! lol)

Went Strip after the lunch...dg did his underarm muahaha...anyway nt the 1st time...and saw their new "promotion" - strawberry wax~ so sweet~

*Phewz* collected my medical results on Mon (did a full medical checkup last month)...in d pinkest of health...but in tt half an hr while waiting to see the doc to review my report, my heart was beating furiously fast...so fast tt for a moment i tot i was gg to have a heart attack..in tt single moment tt the doc told me "u r very healthy..every stats are showing good results...(i zoned out the remaining of her words)..." i heaved a heavy sigh of relief..

Had dinner @ Northpoint w evon..was a special trip to northpoint for her cox she wanted to look for this shop "Magic Shop"..highly recommended this brand's products...tried it myself and decided to buy the whole set...very impressed with their products, esp their moisturizer and their makeup base..*to note: I'm very particular on my facial pdts (i dun take my good complexion for granted n i take consistent care of it de, thou I say it myself..lol)

Anyway, here's all the products tt I bought..ooh n try out their lip gloss..it's watery, non-sticky/oily, and thou looks transparent, but once it touches ur lips, the warmth of ur lips will change the colour to ur natural lip colour...damn cool~
And their service damn good..

End of 2011 Election

Finally...all the rallyings, competitions, office/meal discussions, ended yesterday on a surprising (ok, maybe not-so-surprising) victory for Aljunied WP. I must say, it was a regret losing George Yeo, whom has been a good foreign minister (p/s: I must admit, I'm not one of those really enthu abt politics, keeping track of every single moves of our govt - but even I know, it's a shame to lose George Yeo)

This election has actually shown that young Singaporeans have a higher expectations of govt (even thou usually we appear bo chup - which is also why I was previously lamenting in FB on the fact that I was asked to vote at my old residence instead of my current one - reason being I changed my add after the cut-off date..of cox, sure I know there's a reason for the cut off date - fairness being the most impt - eh but c'mon it's not like I changed my add after hearing the declaration of polling day - they might have decided it long ago but tt was not in public knowledge - what's more is I felt "cheated" - i wanted to vote for the GRC tt's gg to affect my area for the NEXT 5 yrs and not the past 5 yrs! 规矩是死的,人是活的)..anyway enough of my complaint.

On a lighter note...attended Jeremy's wedding last night @ The Regent (yes, on polling day - jeremy told me they actually casted their vote in their wedding attire! haha...tt must have been quite a sight) Anyway, the dinner was rather fun (speeches by best man and groom was humorous and heart-warming)..ended at 11+pm..was a good chance to meet up w my uni buddies (also a good chance to send verbal "invitations" for my upcoming wedding..haha...yeah am choosing mh photos next weekend!)

Alone at home today...(DG working!!!)..*yawnz* woke up early this morning at 6am, went market with dg's mum - had to buy stuff for the steamboat tonight, with my WATCH buddies..luckily was ferried to and fro by DG..managed to make it a chop-chop trip..reached home by 7.30am and got everything prepared by 9am..maybe will catch some sleep later..

Considering buying Amazon Kindle...yes I owned an iphone and for now, it has been able to occupy my travelling time with games..considered buying ipad 2 but ruled that out since I alrdy have a Macbook, an iphone 3 and an iphone 4, and for now, I dun have any wish to join the craze..for electronic pdts, I rarely buy the pioneer batch..personal preference to wait till the major concerns (if any) have been rectified and till I hear first-hand from friends abt the goodness of it.. (I know ipad 1 is good..but I still have my reserves for ipad 2)

Meanwhile, Kindle seems to be able to solve my desire to read some books while travelling, without incurring the weight of the actual book.. (weight and thickness of the Kindle is apparently very kind on sluggish shoulders like mine)..forget about ibooks - unless u r a fan of english literature..hopefully the range increases in time to come..am still doing read-ups on it..will update if I'm really getting it...

Arggh..tmr public holi but have to entertain my boss's ex -boss who is currently residing in NZ and owns a valuation firm there..yeah manz my boss "happily" roped me in for "entertaining" him..dinners, lunches, ferris wheel, night safari...dunno wat else..

Had our photo shoot for the wedding album on thurs.. purposely chose tt day so that we have a long weekend to rest haha~ eh really very tiring...used to wonder "got so tiring meh??" but really must go thru liao then know..

The indoor part was relatively "fun", kept giggling all the way, the photographer had to keep asking me not to "tou xiao" hahah...think he had much difficulties taking "artistic" poses of us..

The outdoor part was the "xin ku" one...cox had to drag the white wedding gown ard..(the long train + a cancan inside - really no joke) dg had to help me hold the gown so tt I wun trip and fall...subsequently changed to a shocking pink gown tt's short at the front - super good choice..no cancan + easy to walk...went to marina barrage, marina promenade, helix bridge..felt like celebrities haha cox everywhere we go, pple r like stopping to look, take photos, some even gave us the thumbs up.. *grinz*

Company's incentive/reward programme - Lion King. Thou not the most expensive tickets, but cox we booked the tics 6mths ago, we got the best seats out of the $88 seatings..good enuff..can see the musical drama very clearly.. enjoyed the show very much. Finally had our housewarming..sorry no camwhoring..basically our house was flooded with people! Relatives, friends, colleagues...my god...din even realised we invited so many pple...some initially could nt make it but esp made the trip down..some flew kite...nevertheless we r absolutely grateful for all the gifts/vouchers given to us..thanks all for the blessings n love...*grateful and thankful*

Firstly, thanks to family (both mine n dg's) for their thick angbaos...so paiseh to rcvd so much for just a housewarming..

Secondly, thanks to colleagues for the gifts given...esp to joseph (for the philips blender cum mixer - I will use it to bake my cakes n bring to office k *smilez*), nic/yk/jess/mae/stef (for the expensive Buffalo rice cooker..yes I know...I owe ur a bowl of rice each muahahah), david (my boss - for the Martello coffee maker..absolutely love it) and the rest of my colleagues for the angbaos and vouchers.. (p/s: I'll leave dg's thanks to his colleagues, to his own discretion)

Lastly, thanks to friends..soanne and angie (for the $100 ntuc vouchers..love u gals), erica/evon/junwei/danny (for the ntuc vouchers and the red wine - still resting on my wine rack haha), xj/qq (for the ntuc vouchers)..dunno y thou i requested for cold storage vouchers, I ended up getting all ntuc vouchers..hah~ wat a strange coincidence..

And this..arrived this morning, complimentary delivery by Takashimaya...Buffalo rice cooker from my colleagues - nicole, yvonne, jess, mae and stefanie..

Soon after the bed came, all the rest of my furniture (washing machine, fridge, sofa, tv, lounge chairs, dining table n chairs, vacuum cleaner, the set of pots bought at taka) came together at the same timing..messy like hell..

The only hiccup..the fridge cannot fit into the space allocated! Had to ask my cousin to send her men down to polish the edge of the granite kitchen top so that the fridge can go in..hopefully it goes well..

Am proud of ourselves cox we did the colour coordination ourselves and the effect turns out well.. ps: not tt we played with a lot of colours - just mainly dark grey, light grey, black and cream colour..w flowery patterns to soften the overall effect..

Yeah..we r moving in tmr!!!

Entire weekend burnt on final-cleaning the new house. Fri took leave and with the help of 2 hired part-time helpers, managed to clean up the entire house, including the windows. Killer manz...really...shoulders now still aching from the cleaning, dg say might be overstretched. Sat morn, went house waited for the plumber to fix the water dripping issue, repairman from Hobz to rectify my cooker hob. Luckily he came early so we din waste the entire day waiting. Ard 4+, went CK Tangs..came out with a huge hole in pocket...bought a ceramic wok - $110 (which i think is a good bargain), kyocera ceramic knives (1 big n 1 small), fruit peeler, and a slicer - $300, corelle plates, bowls, etc - $250+ (didnt buy the set cox dun have the design we like n the set pieces not relevant for our usage), some other stuff, total amounting to nearly $900. Not the end...went taka, saw household bonanza, bought a set of 5 pots + a frying pan @ $150. One single evening $1000...killerz...somemore haven bought everything yet..haiz...

Sun was the exciting day..afternoon met up w contractor for the final payment n feedback...then went for my gowns fitting! Tiring, but fun to try on different gowns..once in a lifetime...from 2-6pm..kept on trying n taking off...hahah..

Next weekend, furniture will be in and we'll be officially shifting in! Yeah...my housewarming invitation is coming!! *smilez*

Got subsidized tickets to USS (thanks to dg's sis) and so the whole lot of us went for a family trip on Sat...was a good break from all the trinkets of the new house..

just a sidetrack - quick update of our hse..handed over by our contractor liao..final quotation did not give us a heart attack (thank goodness!)..everything (incl lightings, sanitary accessories) amounted to $45k..credits to dg who did all the research on the good bargains we got..credits to angie who recommended us the contractor who was relatively honest n efficient..credits to my aunt who subsidized our tiles n granite top, selling us at wholesale price..imagine homo tiles for my whole house plus granite kitchen top n vanity top at a total cost of only 6k..credits to verlyn my dearest cousin for doing all the liasing for our tiles..thank u to all..muackz)

now bz with the cleaning of the house..did the 1st vacuum n mopping of the house..at least now clean enuff to sit on the floor wo turning my white shorts into grey..alrdy 拜五方, coming sat going to "invite" the kuanyin back to our house n also a final spring cleaning..sun choosing our wedding gowns..next sat furniture will arrive...nxt sun officially moving in..house warming shld be end mar or early apr..after that will be bz w wedding preparations...wooz..m gg to be busy like bees...

Banker's lunch today.. rushed 2 valuations before the lunch and another 2 after...I'm dead beat..dunno y damn suay all the agents/tenants/owners LATE today..somemore is late by 20-30min tt kinda LATE! 没有时间观念!!

Filling lunch so only had yogurt for dinner...p/s: bo bian im still on diet, at least till after my wedding banquet..*pout*
8-course meal for lunch 真的不是开玩笑的..if not for biz dev, I dun enjoy this kinda lunch (& it's happening so frequently tt I really must watch what I put into my mouth)..makes me feel full n sinful for the rest of the day..ordered their CNY menu..价钱也真的不是开玩笑的...16 pax = $1800!!
And conclusion...I still like their normal foodfare better...their xo carrot cake..best...

my 5th yu sheng this cny...but this is d most extravagant..comes w salmon sashimi and abalone..

roasted suckling pig..VERY CRISPY..& definitely fattening *lol* I only dared a bite of the skin where there's no layer of oil underneath...

mongolian-style steamed soon hock..very fresh...something different from the usual steam fish..comes with mushrooms, black fungus, 枸杞, etc...

oops sorry this is blurred..they turned the dish away just as i was snapping..dunno wats the name of this dish..king prawns w noodles..is a good combi i would say..instead of separating it into the usual 1 dish of prawns and another dish of noodles, they combined it..however dunno is cox of the cooking method or some other reasons, thou the prawns r fresh but taste quite tough. *shrugs* to me eating 1 such prawn is enough.. (tt speaks volume when im a prawn-lover and i can finish a whole dish of prawns myself)

last dish - desserts. In addition to the "chng teng", this is also part of the desserts - cereal custard muah chee and mini egg tarts...this is the best dish of the entire lunch and definitely brought it to a good ending. Love the custard muah chee..cereal coated - fragrant. Muah chee was not too sticky. U can either put the whole thing into the mouth or take a small bite of it - either one will have u caught by surprise..the entire inside is filled with warm liquid custard..bite in half, u'll see the golden custard inside tt makes u go "wooh"...everyone round the table was full of compliments for this...not forgetting the mini egg tarts...using only egg white, u can taste the eggy fragrance of it..not too sweet, yet crispy. Thumbs up for this dessert...left me wanting for more~

Dg wanted try out the recommended stall after watching Channel 8's " 煮炒来咯" (showing every thurs)...so last fri we went n tried it out...biz was damn good after the programme..went specially for their 水晶鸡 but it was sold out by the time we ordered (p/s: had to wait for jessie and hw to come b4 ordering..so there was abit of delay)

The best thing? We din try all the recommended dishes in the programme..our logic? if their food is good, everything on the menu shld be good..so we ordered 鱼头炉 w 红斑, 四季豆, 虾酱鸡...these r very common dishes tt we can find everywhere but we just wanted to try these out..

鱼头炉 w 红斑 - $28
Very worth the price and definitely worth a try, esp in rainy weathers. The fish came fresh n thickly-sliced which tastes much better than those thinly-sliced cox u can taste the freshness of it and it doesnt fall to pieces when u try to pick them out of the hotpot..portion was nt stingy, satisfying quantity for 4.
The thing I like most is it comes with lots of veg..lotsa n lotsa of it...And the one thing I dun like is tt the yam was nt deep-fried beforehand, so it's just boiled yam which doesnt bring out the fragrance at all..tastes just like a lump of mushy starch..

四季豆 - $10
This is only so-so. The beans were fried for too long, making it "old" and dry...too soft...totally lost the crunchiness of it..(p/s: I happen to love 干扁四季豆 which I most frequently ordered, so I'm more 嘴挑)...the fried 虾米 were too salty also so must go with rice..btw we ordered this cox their signature veg dish 三蛋芫菜 was sold out too, so I wana go back to try it out again.. *hint hint DG* lol

虾酱鸡 - $12
Definitely a generous serving..medium size comes with 12 pieces = $1 per piece...cheap right? Taste-wise, nothing special. Abit oily but guess all deep-fried food r like tt..*shrugs* If you like strong 虾酱 taste, then u'll probably like this..for me, no comments.

Total bill came to $53.20 (including 4 glasses of warm home-cooked delicious barley) for 4 pax which I find very reasonable. Btw, 45min wait = a free plate of pork belly for the steamboat.

Verdict = I want to go back again (before reaching a conclusion) to try their 水晶鸡, 三蛋芫菜 & 酸菜鱼..kakis?? anyone??

*blink* *blink* cny over!! (ok, not the entire cny, but as far as im concerned, cny ends the moment we start work cox no more holi *cryz*) HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

So fast...too fast in fact..barely did anything..

Eve - ended work at 2pm. dg fetched me from work (just came back from NZ the day b4 so off all the way till cny over). Had reunion dinner at Sakura, with dg's family, his aunt's family, and my family! haha..this is really a reunion dinner manz..occupied 4 tables w 17 headcount (excl kids hor~) after dinner had our 1st round of mj session at dg's hse w his family, sleepover too (w my parents' blessings, of cox *grinz*)

1st day - visit both my paternal & maternal gdparents, saw my "new" aunt and cousin for the 1st time (she has 2 sons so I have 2 additional cousins, and she ranks 3rd so all my other aunts' sequence got pushed back lol...ask y she was given away? cox my great gdpa did nt believe in too many girls back in their era, so when she was born, he forced my gdpa to give her away...as for the rest of my aunts..they were lucky cox subsequently my great gdpa passed away) also visited dg's maternal gdparents and had dinner there. (his paternal gdparents have alrdy passed away) Ended the day with mj w dg's family, yes again. His brother-in-law's friends came over, so we had another round. mj, mj, mj *lol*

2nd day - slept till early afternoon. nothing to do in d morn anyway. late afternoon went his aunt's cdo at pasir panjang for dinner. stayed till 7+ and came home. nope, no mj hahah cox his family driving up to genting in e wee morning..

3rd day - visited shaun n elise's hse at delta rd. Stayed from 2-5+pm, then proceeded to pengwei aka xiaoming's hse @ yunnan cres, for dinner and gambling *lol* they even invited someone to pose as cai shen ye, and gave out angbaos (only a card w 4 numbers inside). Was a very enjoyable evening.

4th day - housewarming at hanwei n jessie's hse @ bt batok. They started their reno way b4 us, so lucky them, in time for cny. Speaking of that, our reno has stopped for cny till 18th, so no updates liao. Went cwp for dinner, also bought our bedlinen at metro...damn cheap~ Bought Oasis Living - 1 set of quilt cover with 1 set of fitted sheets, 2 pillow casings, 1 free bolster casing + 1 additional set of fitted sheet with 2 pillow casings @ $183, tc 520. We damn kiasu right...haven shift in alrdy bought majority of our household items..we had fun shopping for our house items *smilez*

Bro suggested Hokkien cuisine (since we r hokkiens) for our reunion dinner..this yr is rather special, as instead of gg to my 三姑's place (she is away in europe this yr), we had to do with outside food and w a smaller percentage of the family present. Only my paternal gdparents, my bro n sis-in-law, my parents, 1 of my cousin, and me~

Bro was the one who ordered, which explains why our dishes were all meat~ but all these r the restaurant's must-try dishes..so no complains~

CNY reunion dinner must-have : Yu-Sheng~

fresh and juicy are what I can think of to describe this..

duck salad...like the sauce..tangy sweet but not too sweet..quite a sin-less dish hah~ since it consists of duck meat, raw cucumber strips and raw mango strips..

ngog-hiang..mixture of 2 types..dunno what n what..haha cox actually this dish came by mistake, and we asked the waitress to just leave it on the table..

crispy roast chicken..this is quite a standard dish..thou i fancy chicken but to me, this is something i get to eat at wedding dinners so nothing special to me..

this is their signature dish - cripsy oyster omelette...the egg is fried till crispy..n i mean REALLY CRISPY~ dun even need to bite, just use chopsticks to twist the egg n u can hear the crisp of it...love this~ (p/s: i nv try the oysters so no comments)

hokkien mee..didn't eat this also cox i dun really fancy carbo, hokkien mee most of all..so yah, no comments too...but all round the table, i see my family nodding their head as they eat this, so i guess this shld taste quite nice..

the only non-meat dish...tofu with mushrooms...only bad thing abt this is that the mushrooms r cut into too small pieces..so much so tt i cant really get a kick out of eating them...fyi i love mushrooms..all types...so when i cant get my craving settled, tt dish is nt considered as a must-have~

last dish of the day~ kong ba w buns...again, I din touch this dish at all also...1. i dun like meaty pork, 2. i dun like carbo...but this dish was cleared in 5min time and even my health-conscious gdma who keeps shaking her head when it was initially offered to her, couldn't resist the smell and had a serving of it..so if u ask me..try it bah~

This meal costs us $337.60 (shared betwn my bro and me), which I find reasonable, given that we had 9 dishes in all (fish maw soup also), the servings were enormous (we couldnt finish and had to pack home), the taste good, the atmosphere very amiable, & most importantly, my family enjoyed the dinner very much.

Went change new notes today at OCBC orchard branch.. p/s: special thanks to JT, who helped change our new notes for CNY - no queue, no hassles, felt so priviledged..only tt I was nearly 'killed" by him cox I keep changing the amount *lol* also took lots n lots of angbao packets from him haha~ gian peng..eh I took for dg's mum/gdma/aunties ok...me? next yr then give hahaha

Anyway, main point of this post..to share w everyone a good organic cafe I went to for lunch. For those health-conscious, vegetarian, or just wanting a change from the usual sinful foodfare..here's it..

chilli miso noodles..veg, mushrooms n lots of carrots..serving is pretty huge (which I take for "granted" cox the price is abit on the high side), unlike its name, it's not spicy and yk said the noodles thou yummy but nt the best she had..my view = something different, abit salty probably due to the miso, the noodles not springy enough but overall still passable

fruit nori sushi..now this is a must-try dish..one look at it I'm alrdy tempted to put it into my mouth..the colours r vibrant and it doesnt just look fresh..it definitely is freshly made..u order they make on spot..we had to wait 15min for this..

put the whole thing into ur mouth and the water from the veg within immed fills your mouth..they also added a tinge of apple vinegar (i guessed) and mayo..the combination is simply fantastic..

tom yum bee hoon...at first mouth, it tastes more sourish than spicy..but as u eat on, the spiciness takes over and started making my nose run..a big serving as well..definitely more delicious than the chilli miso noodle and more worth a try..

That's all we were able to stomach (p/s: I wasted food again by nt being able to finish my portion..ok what's new..I know). This meal costs us $18.80, which I find a tad expensive but yk says it's usual cox it's organic food...well I guess good health does nt come cheap/easy..cheers to good health~

I am so IMPRESSED with my contractor!!! His workers managed to come up w majority of the carpentry work within 1 day!!! Without compromising the quality of work as well~ *super impressed*

Seeing the house becoming more n more like a home makes me begin to feel that all our hard work has paid off..from the sourcing of contractors (I'm glad we settled for angie's dad's contractor altho we sourced for countless no of contractors w different pricing, design..results proven, he has not given us any reasons to regret our decision), to the purchasing of our home items (including lightings, sanitary fittings, accessories, electrical appliances), to the decision on the design/theme of our home..finally..we can now breathe a sigh of relief..

Hasn't been updating much due to the mass business development activities tt I was put in charge of for my co, together w a few of my colleagues as well..bz queuing for bak kwa - yea Lim Chee Guan (n shld I say, the q was crazy!), bz arranging for visits to clients to give the bak kwa, bz w work, etc..reach home everyday in a totally shagged out mode..concussed upon touch of bed almost every night...CNY is really a busy festival..*sigh*

Ok, as for updates on my house..yeah~ my house is almost done..the tiles r done, the repainting is done (most of it..except for corners and some walls tt still need touchups), now only left the carpentry work...can't wait for the house to be done..day by day when I see our love nest getting prettier n prettier, I'm getting more n more excited as well.. too bad dg is away in NZ so he missed out some stages of the reno progress and can only view it online..

And while on that topic, yes! I'm gg over tonight to see our house again! hahz~

Cox it actually happened in my family!!!!!! ~ when mum called me and told me i have another aunt whom i nv knew existed, i actually tot she was kidding me! no joke! even showed me the news article of my this "new" aunt looking for my gdparents!

Story goes..she was given to a malay family when young...and now she comes looking for her real parents..my ah ma n yeye~ = my dad's sis = my aunt!!!

How should I react?? still felt abit unrealistic, dramatic..let's see how it goes when my whole family meets up w her family...

Tiling has begun for our home sweet home. Within a short span of 2 days, my living hall (excl bal and dining area), and the 2 toilets have been tiled. "Spot-checked" continously for 2 days, was put at ease with the work done so far..satisfied tt the workers did not cut any corners, and so we decided not to go up anymore till all the tiles r laid and dried.

Coz rcvd advice not to go up that often so as not to affect the laying of the tiles and the way it turns out..when the cement is still wet, tiles r just laid, we need to step in the center of the tiles so as to keep the cement underneath evenly spread..if step on corners might end up tilting the tiles..dunno how true this is but we'd rather nt take the risk..

Am so eager to see the final pdt..

First of all..a very Happy New Year to everyone~ how's ur new yr countdown? celebrated among the hustles and bustles of the orchard crowd or peacefully in the comfort of your hse? We chose the latter..

Wanting a good ending to a good 2010 and wishing for a good start to 2011, we decided upon a sumptious steamboat buffet dinner at M Hotel despite the jacked-up price..last treat for ourselves, serving as a pat on our shoulders, encouraging ourselves tt we have done well..

Now a thorough end to a new year..best way to do it? a review of the whole year? Let's see then, what I've done / accomplished in 2010.

1. Obtained my appraisal's licence and signed my 1st valuation report.
2. Got promoted and expanded my valuation expertise to commercial and industrial properties.
3. Engaged to mr goh.
4. Got our very own house, which is currently undergoing a major renovation. Designed the theme n chose all the interiors n furnishings ourselves. (no one else, but us to be blamed if it doesnt turn out good lol)
5. Chosen our date n venue for the wedding in 2011.

Not much indeed. Or perhaps, is just not the whole list. I might have left some out. There are also those I find of not such importance to be stated. I believe life is a never-ending marathon. Who gets what, who wins what - all these you'll never know till your last breath. So in the meantime, I shall just enjoy this journey, brave through all the obstacles and try my best to emerge as the winner (in my own definition..my life is my life and no one else, so no one else shall determine how I live it) *smilez*

Forgot to post our flr plan...in fengshui, the proportionate areas of each accomodation is very ideal but when it comes to the designing of renovation...TAO TIA~

Cox living room and master bedroom which matters d most r rectangular in shape! and cos of the layout, we are only left w a few choices to play around with when it comes to placement of furnishings..this is seriously no joke~ the next time friends scout for houses, my advice - lookout for the layout!

Christmas Day - Spent buying lightings for our house. Made a 2nd trip down to Balestier and bought all the lightings at Chan Huat Lightings (recommended by our contractor and after window-shopping a few other stores, we went for this cox of the extensive range and its low prices...but if u wan atas and designer lights, then this might not be an ideal choice). Spent a total of $1500, within our budget.

Boxing Day - Spent buying furniture. Yes! We damn kiasu / efficient, depending on ur perception *lol*

Went AMK Blk 338 - C & S Furniture Dynamics, after dg read numerous good reviews given by forumers at Renotalk.com. Greeted by 2 very friendly boss who gave very practical advices and recommendations. Kudos~ somemore all the prices quoted were definitely reasonable and not out to "chop" customers. Settled our half-leather sofa, bal's chairs n mini table, and our dining table w 4 designer chairs there. All at a mere cost of $3000.

Am seriously beginning to suspect when I look back upon this whole process of reno & marriage, will it be with bewilderment or amazement (that we manage to pull thru) or simply both?

1. Completion - Checked (alrdy gotten a set of keys from d owner and they r shifting out by this weekend.
2. Fengshui - Checked. DG is most concerned w our well-beings, cox we need to live in it for at least 5yrs..so bare min the house shouldnt be a "curse" hahah..luckily for us, the house turns out to be a "money" house for us *grinz* which prob explains why thou we have not shifted in, our unit no alrdy came out in 4D numerous times, 3rd prize once and a few times in starters..
3. Renovation -
(a) Securing of Contractor: Checked. (took up angie's dad's recommended contractor)
(b) Quotation: Checked. Came out w a quotation of 30k (excl accessories and tiles - getting from my aunt @ super low prices). Hopefully we r not being "chopped" wo knowledge. *lol*
(c) Tiles: Checked. Went down to the showroom twice and finally chose our tiles. Now only hoping colours will match niaz.
(d) ID: Waiting for him to come up w the blueprint.
(e) Accessories: Aircon (Checked) Taking up with Hong Tar (recommended by mae n thou theirs is not the cheapest we can find in the market but their service is good). Sanitary Fittings; need go on a few more trips to geylang or jln besar to source. Lightings; status same as SF.
4. Remaining furnishings - alrdy bought our bed; Serta Queen *grinz* now lacking fridge (to be provided by my mum), dining table (to be provided by dg's mum), washing machine, vacuum cleaner (to be provided by my bro? hah)..and the rest we'll just buy as we go along bah.

1. Date - Checked. Oct 2011.
2. Venue - Checked. @ Goodwood Park hotel, secured the booking liao. *phewz*
3. Studio - Checked. Choosing my gowns in March, photo-taking in May, dieting from now till oct hah.

5. Actual Day Scheduling - Sama sama. A step at a time. Too many steps we'll drown.

Weekends? Sat morn go hotel signed agreement document for the banquet next yr (phewz..finally another worrisome issue settled)..last min decided go JB to window-shop for our house decorative items..finally cleared m'sia custom after 1.5hr but dg took a wrong turn n ended back at the custom! and we had to clear custom all over again!!! nearly fainted...dg was so fuming mad..

Sun - morn went prayed dg's dad @ 光明山...rotted rest of day at home, until evening time, whole family went dinner @ sembawang shopping centre..e 2 kids had their fun at the water playground at lvl 4...had dinner @ Prosperous Kitchen...his mum picked up the tab..

had supper at Jusco - Old Town. Food suckz, service suckz..never again! see the difference betwn the food shown in menu and the actual thing?? totally different! 完全被骗了~

ssc was having a xmas carol & a santa claus...meimei was awe-stricken w e santa claus and the candy he's giving out..hah~

Asked our hotel staff for recommendations on restaurants tt provide good and traditional thai cuisine and we got directed to this :

Restaurant: Once Upon A Time (32, Soi Petchaburi 17 - u will need to turn into a dimly lit lane and walk in..we took a cab and we hit a few wrong turns before reaching)

Just so happened, this restaurant was pretty near our hotel. So we decided to give it a shot. Turns out, to our surprise, it was superb!!!

one of their vege soup tt comes w chicken. This tasted strongly of bamboo and some herbs thais used..so unless u can take it else dun try.

their tom yam goong!!! I tell u...dun see no up this small claypot of tom yam soup~ just one mouth n it had our appetite raised by a notch, and though we were not hungry, we immed decided just one small pot like this is not gg to satisfy us so we ordered another one. Damn shiok!! Fantastic like heaven~

pandan leaf chicken...chicken were tender w a hint of pandan..nice~
regrets tt jessie did not take photos of the fried rice we subsequently ordered..tt small plate of fried rice - ordinary in looks but heavenly in taste! even for someone like me who doesnt touch rice actually ate 1 full bowl of it! mai siao siao~
oh and also the pineappple rice...sooo yummy too...

this dessery is absolutely on the house..mango w sweet glutinous rice...as expected of their standard (after eating such a delicious sumptious meal) this dessert comes as a good sweet ending to our "dinner" there...this restaurant really left a very deep impression in us..definitely will go back again the next time i visit bkk..

subsequently the next day, we decided to have our dinner feast in our hotel room (we were wiped out from a whole day of walking wo taking a single public tpt and we decided to buy abit of every food we see in the streets and feast it out in the comfort of our room)

this whole feast of bbq half-chicken, one fried drumstick each, mango salad, 2 boxes of pad thai, 6 skewers of handmade fishballs & sausages & chicken balls, 8 skewers of grilled pork - all at a cost of barely S$30! their street hawker food is so cheap! (p/s: initially i was worried of food poisoning given tt im not one w a strong stomach, but after tt 5 days of feasting on roadside stalls, I can vouch for the "safety" lol)

everyone (except me, of cox) in the room swear by the grilled pork skewers

for me? I swear by the pad thai... hah~

happily filling our alrdy filled stomach w more food - dumpling balls / tau hway in ginger soup

tried out their food court at the 6th lvl of platinum mall...go where the locals go...

see these "kuehs"...tried the green one..fried n dipped in their sauce...yummy~

realised for many of their small bites, much of the taste depends on the sauce made by the vendor...even the chilli tastes differently..

bowls n bowls of desserts..i can only name 2...the one on the extreme left in yellow - tau suan, and the one on the extreme right in light yellow - 玉米羹...the rest? ahah *shrugs*

we separated ways w the guys while shopping, agreeing to meet at a timing at a specified location. but our money was wiped out prior to that timing and all we could do was to find a place to sit down, relax while waiting for them. Ended up at Mister Doughnut...DON'T TRY! their doughnuts suckz...

December spells a month of parties and dinners...everyone's in a joyous mood cox the upcoming festivals and the fat bonuses..is a month of spending.

My month is already packed..just came back from BKK and already my calendar is filled. Dinner cum KTV w my company's "party" gang @ Pines tmr - pre-xmas celebration, much in advance cox my big boss is coming back on mon and it's our last day of bliss :(
Then to be followed by a meetup w the hotel on Sat morn, to sign our banquet agreement and pay deposit to secure the booking. And to jln besar to source for our sanitary fittings.

Next thurs, company's xmas dinner @ Shangri-La. Saturday celebrate Soanne's bd @ OCC - golf followed by lobster porridge (planned by angie *smilez*)

So on and so forth...the year will end sooner than I know cox of the many many activities..and soon it will be another new year of new hopes, anticipation, excitement..next year seemingly promises a year full of excitement (shifting in to our newly renovated house, our upcoming wedding n its preparations. etc) and perhaps, arguments?? hah~ whatever it might be..I know we'll enjoy the process and look back upon it with smiles on our faces.

Bangkok ~ 3rd - 7th Dec

Took our last holi of the year (pob next yr's too..depending on our financial budget bah).. to shopping paradise - Bangkok~

Walked alot throughout the trip...the no of times we took public tpt is seriously countable by fingers..which probably explains why though we ate so much we still managed to not gain weight! (p/s: I even lost half a kg loh, mai siao siao~)

Didn't really planned itinery for the trip..our tour guide was my dearest hubby-to-be, DG~
Became quite a strain on him to lead us cox we all have different needs and we didn't plan a single thing at all prior to the trip..Sorry love...

Our company for this trip? DG, me, his friend Hanwei n wife Jessie, n Jessie's mum..weird combi? haha but it was an enjoyable trip cox her mum was a good sport..can u imagine she walked and walked throughout the 5 days w us, without complaining or grumbling..*thumbs up* though the best "walker" award still goes to my DG~ he really can walk de loh...he's an even better shopper than most girls..hah so see..i got myself a shopper-hubby..but luckily he doesnt spend as much as us girls when we r shopping..

took Tiger Airway...seriously, LAST TIME! 1st, they delayed our flight, from 7+am till 12+ noon...then they changed our boarding gate 3 times! by the time we took off..it was well past our original scheduled time..tt's wat happens when we decide to save tt few dollars for more clothes! lesson learnt..

finally reached bkk at 2+pm (their local time - they r later by an hr)..took the skytrain to our hotel..cheaper and fastest way...airport tf via coach takes ard 1.5hr, taxi ard 45min, skytrain 30min..

found our hotel pretty easily..Indra Regent..quite a good location if you want somewhere near to Platinum Mall, Isetan, etc...

they upgraded our room to a superior room w a larger bed...super king size! damn big...

checked into our room, dumped our luggages and headed straight for the streets..

1st thing we noticed...their Mr Macdonald is a different one w hands together in a local greeting pose..sawadika~

every single food of theirs come w fresh, raw veg~ no wonder all the locals r so slim!

even thou we had a filling bf just barely half an hr ago..we still finished this whole plate of meat n the soup...too good to waste!

this chinatown trip is fulfilling in the sense that it's a 美食 trip..all the food we tried r just so nice!!! 姜汤汤圆...their 汤圆 is handmade, not mass production, so it's springy and filled full of sesame paste...n thou im not a ginger person (in fact i vomit upon eating ginger) I helped finish the soup...tt's how nice it is~

their 杂菜饭 stall...

we really ate and ate...soon after the goose n the soup, we proceeded for our bird nest and sharks fin...

this only costs us 300baht..which is ard $13!!! their soup is thick n up to taste...

Tried this restaurant out under gladys's recommendation..went during lunch time and it was a super long wait! On the same level, there were many other restaurants, but only this was w a long long queue!!!

Most of their customers r japanese..and I always believe that if u wan an authentic and good jap food, go where the japanese go..

Their menu is quite limited, serving only ramen, gyoza, and some small side dishes. Even their drinks are limited to green tea, oolong tea and beer only. Real authentic~

Venue: Parco Marina Bay, #03 (just look for the shop with the longest q)

Verdict: the broth is thick, creamy and good..thou a bit too oily for someone on diet...but the serving is generous, with lots of bean sprouts. Their chashu (thou not as good as 火头山) but still good. Only thing I don't like is the bowl of ramen tastes a bit too strongly of pork, but tt's a personal liking matter.

Costs: Didn't really see the price thou I paid the bill (cox on co's tab) but 2 bowls of ramen + 1 can of green tea + gyoza (6 pieces) = $45 (est). Not too expensive I would say...

CYK jio-ed dinner after work yday..havent met up for ages so met up at Orchard Central...with the purpose of trying out the recommended, highly-praised lobster porridge..

Venue: Long Xia Zhou Shi Jia
Location: Orchard Central, #08-09
Price: $29.90, but they are currently having a 1 for 1 promotion w any credit cards
Quantity: Definitely enough for a lady w average stomach capacity
Quality: Despite the many highly prestigious awards won, the many many raves about it, I personally do not find it fantastic. It does smells good when they serve it piping hot and even when the waitress only walk past me with it. At first mouth, is really delicious cox the porridge is served in long-boiled broth. But after a few more mouths of it, I start to get sick of it..the wine-taste becomes more n more apparent w each increasing mouth..so much so that I had to put in pepper and fresh chopped red chilli to dilute and "divert" the "sickening heavy" taste of it..
As for the lobster, half is served w each bowl. Mine came as just-nice-cooked, whereas for cyk, hers came abit overcooked and she couldnt properly get the meat out without the help of a knife and fork..
Overall Verdict: Unless for the 1 for 1 promo, I wouldnt recommend it..not at the price of $29.90 (excl GST & svs charge). Not worth it..

i ordered mine wo spring onions..n it looks pretty "simple" wo it..

Went for hot chocolate at a "stall" outside 313 Orchard, after the not-so-happy meal..also 1 for 1 promo.. (p/s: haha told cyk am on a stringent budget till everything is done)

now, don't judge a book by its cover! this may look just like a normal cup of hot chocolate...try it n u'll know its power!! It's so thick n chocolatey~ so chocolatey that this is definitely the best I've had in SG...seriously...try it n u'll agree w me..

Am heading for wedding dinner @ merchant court...let's hope it doesnt end too late...still gotta work tmr..*sianz*

went specially to Jurong Pt on sat with dg's family, to catch the "snowing" effects from the xmas tree...let the kids play..really very picturesque..

dg took me to dim sum on sunday before we went to our contractor for the quotation..was it cox he made me angry tt morning n he's making up for it, knowing im a fanatic of dim sum?? haha...actually has long wanted to try out tis restaurant, cox it has a long history and i've friends recommending it..

had dim sum at Lion City at City Plaza (i think so..it's the one opp katong shopping cplx)..

Traditional settings n ambience within the restaurant, friendly n polite staff, fabulous n prompt service, completed with fresh, delicious, hot dim sum...hmm wat else can I ask for?? *thumbs up*

cold sea jelly served in sweet sauce...a tad too sweet for my liking..n the sea jelly is a bit rough...very unlike those smooth ones which i prefer...

my fav harkow...this is 2 thumbs up~ skin is not too thick neither too thin to hold the prawns inside..but one bite u can taste the combi of the skin n the succulent prawn within...shiok~

xiao long bao...i find this ok niaz..skin too thick for my liking..not as juicy as it shld be..even the taste of the little soup within is not very much up to standard...

crabmeat xiumai...this is a total different story..like the harkow, DELICIOUS! now i'm a very picky person when it comes to pork..any slightest taste of "porkiness" will just put me off..n trust me..i really can taste even the slightest mildest taste of it (soanne has once told me "of cox pork has pork smell mah..hee sorry not acceptable in my dictionary)..this xiumai has such a good balanced combi of pork, mushrooms, and crabmeat that it simply melts in my mouth n no strong taste of pork! definitely one of the best xiumai...TRY IT!

mini glutinous rice..dg's favourite...

usual glutinous rice comes w more rice than ingredients..this is the exact opp...an appropriate amount of glutinous rice wrapping an inner layer full of mushrooms, chicken, charsiew, prawns..looks small n miserable from the outside..use your chopsticks pry it open n u'll be surprised...plus the rice comes soft n fragrant..with just a tinge of stickiness so not too hard to digest...GOOD!

(p/s: we r not those who order alot n stuff ourselves n end up grossly overeating..not to mention this is highly unhealthy n unadvisable for people like me who r on diet haha..so..sorry if not able to provide more pics cox tt's all we ordered n ate...go try yourself bah..the rest of the dim sum shld b equally nice if the standard is the same for all their food..the next time I go, I wana eat lunch/dinner there...their main dishes look so delicious to me when i bypass tables having lunch)

See..now that explains y i'm sick till today...alrdy sick still anyhow eat...haiz..BUT luckily im still on track for my dieting prog..healthily steadily losing weight.. *grinz*

Sick for the past weekend..down w sudden fever since fri...supposed to have rested during the weekends, but had to go out to settle stuff still..so the sickness dragged till today n coupled w my menses..deadly combi..practically spent whole day sleeping today...damn shiok...totally drove my fever, headache and menses cramp away...

Mum Dad leaving for m'sia tmr wee morning, so they had me come over dg's hse to sleepover so that I do not have to face my idiotic n sicko neighbour myself..dg's mum had been kind to boil me soup meant for "cooling down" and for coughs, seeing I'm down w fever, sore throat n coughs..all symptoms of body "overheated"... no fried food either...hmm small ways of caring definitely go well..

5 mths to cut 5kg (hopefully in the right places...like the thighs, the arms and the little tummy)...hmm..no carbo (luckily carbo is seldom in my diet even now so this is still ok), no sweet drinks (i dun either..so this is also ok), NO CHOCOLATES~ (this is gg to kill me), NO DESSERTS! (pronounced dead~ lol) wat to do...prettiness for tt 2 moments...worth? depends..for me? YES!

anyway hee i used the vouchers given by SQ to buy myself a ukimono mini!! so yips..can "tremble" day n night liao..haha...even told my colleagues im gonna bring to office to use every single moment muahah...

tmr will have busy day ahead...recee 2 venues to decide the ultimate venue...to our contractor again to discuss quotations..then evening his co's event tt we might have to attend (hopefully not.. *cross fingers*)...busy like a bee ah~

Loooong weekend...but definitely fulfilling... :)

Fri - spent at home "recuperating" 修身养性 (u believe??) hahaha .. eh I really did loh...stay at home I mean...watched movies whole day :)

Sat - went WY's (colleague) wedding @ Keppel Club..was a lunch affair and lasted till 3pm.. hitched ride from jg to amk..then went over to jiaz hse for mj in d evening..won some money for nic's baby's full-mth bash haha...

Sun - went over nic's hse for lunch..lucas's full mth...did a diaper cake for him...hee..another of my creation..not much time spent on this thou cox i made it small so that i can carry over myself..had dinner ar dg's hse..his mum jio-ed mj so played till 11+pm, slept for 3 hrs before gg airport fetch my dearest dg..waited till 4am before i caught a glimpse of him..reached home by 5+am and immed concussed..

Mon - took leave and went sourced for our bridal studio..settled for Golden Horse Awards..金马奖..actually we did not scour around lah..just went str for this and cox they gave us a quote within expectation + i like their gowns..so we just settled for it..dun wan go to so much trouble just to save tt few dollars.. went tpy HDB to settle the remaining docu for our house..then went to our ID to get the plan and quotations for d reno...finally went home in late evening for dinner..both of us fell asleep by 8+pm.. (tt's VERY EARLY for us..haha)

Today - BACK TO WORK! haiz~ only thing tt brightened my day? DG drove me to work, seeing its raining cats n dogs... *grinz*

the scenery's fantastic..

got the bride to pick 4 lucky numbers for us...and guess wat..she ended up picking dg's car plate no!!! exactly same sequence same numbers!!! *faintz* needless to say, we immed pooled money for it hah..

the diaper cake I did for baby lucas...not as extravagant as anna's but still sweet...practical..

Felt super apologetic towards friends..I need to seek forgival for delving so into my own world that I forgot about my friends who were there for me when I needed them..this thing hit me hard when I only realised thru FB that Anna (one friend whom I treated as one of my best friend) has switched jobs n I knew nothing about it~ haiz~ (p/s: to friends who feel tt I've ignored you...I'm truly sorry..)

Nt to be taken as an forgivable excuse, but I was really tied down w stuff, from work to personal. My buddy is on maternity leave, so I had to take over all her work coupled w mine..SM on 3days leave, making everything even messier cox I also had to take on her work..1 person taking on 3 person's stuff = helluva BUSY~ and in addition, biz development~ *faintz*

Personal stuff; has been sending emails to hotels asking for their package and details, scanning down to a few tt I personally like, so tt once DG comes back we can make the final choice.. need to chase contractors for their quotations n their designs (come to think of it..i gotta chase them so early in the stage of reno..if i really pick them, wont i have to worry even more later on??? haiz)..am shelving choosing bridal studios till dg comes back (maybe we can go into m'sia for it...see how)

Maybe when everything has been settled by next yr, I might look back n think this is a once in a lifetime good experience..but when im immersed into things right now..god..this is crazy...

Am in a state of "confusion"..drowned by too many things to do..luckily I have good friends who r willing to offer their hand in helping me settle things..

Just had my 1st appt w HDB this morning..I'm glad for DG's mum's company..She has been a pillar while DG is out of country; asking me every now n then over for dinner and always making sure she whip good dishes when i do go over (she always felt i eat far too little for my own good)..repeatedly offering help in taking care of kid if we do have one in the near future, etc etc...I'm glad for such a good MIL (red-eyed bah?? hahaa...but soanne kept reminding me not to be happy so early cox i nv know..hmm well..I just do know~)

Evon/Jerry/Perry has been super great help in settling my HDB stuff.. *grinz* i cannot divulge how they have helped me..but really thanks a lot~

Coming up, I have to settle my wedding venue, my studio, and my contractors for the new hse. Cox gotta produce receipt of some kind for HDB to process my case (to prove tt we r really getting married) so have to settle either the studio or the venue real quick! *flustered*

Really wishing for DG to come back soon~ miss him so much *pout*

Just sent my DG to the airport..flying off to australia..3 weeks!!! *weepz*
So happened his trip coincides w many of our preparations for our new life ahead..our 1st appt w hdb, I had to go alone w his mum, along with all the necessary docu and the power of attorney..hope everything goes well..knowing wat a big-head prawn I am, he had all the docu ready and filed so I just need to do a last check to ensure all r brought along..our contractors' quotations n draft plans will be emailed to us by this week as well, but we r definitely shelving the confirmation of contractor till he gets back..our wedding preparations which include the choosing of an auspicious date (act we r nt tt fussy when it comes to the date..is just to please the elders), the choosing of the venue and getting the quotations on the packages.. really 1001 things to do...hopefully everything goes well *cross fingers*

*yawnz* woke up at 7am to send him off..sleepy now..gg napz..

Spent a super busy yet fulfilling weekend...started off w fri DG was on leave, sent me to work in the morning (tt is VERY RARE~~ *lol*), buffet lunch at Rise @ MBS, dinner at Hard Rock Cafe @ RWS (1 day to 2 casino venues but nv went into any casino *lol*), and theatrical circus..know what's the best part? *lol* lunch, dinner and show all on company's expenses !! shiok right...hahahaha

Whole saturday was packed w gg resize my ring in the late morning, to the bank to create a current account so that we can start using cheques instead of cash for our future purchases, lunch w my WATCH (minus trixie but an addition of daniel, and anna's little princess - kaydence..she is SO DAMN CUTE~~) at Northpoint, chinese physician in the early afternoon - nope, not sick, just wana improve body constitution, diagnosis = blood pressure too low, 气血不足, tt's y always very pale n feels cold easily. Prescribed me some med..see if eat liao will help improve. Then met up w jessie and hw, went ikea & courts at tampines..walked ard looking for ideas on concepts for our house and also on the rough estimates of furniture. Need draw up our budget plan..dun wan spend a bomb in the end look like nothing much done to the house..even more dun wan tot we got a good deal in the end is being "chopped"...by the time we finish walking and had dinner..we were totally wiped out..headed home and fully concussed.

Sunday, we went Tradehub 21 and started looking for contractors and getting estimates on packages offered. Thinking of getting tiles at wholesale prices from my aunt (she specializes in importing and exporting quality tiles from Italy, Spain, etc) and asking contractors to lay for us, so we need to check out how's the pricing like. Walked the whole lot of showrooms, got their packages, will look thru and consider other options, then decide.

Next weekend will be a tedious one again..tt's when we will go to my aunt's showroom, choose the tiles we wan, then proceed to contractors to negotiate on our package and design...haiz..i better rest well this week.
